Delete your Shelvly account and data

Delete your account from Shelvly

The in-app flow registers a deletion request; permanent deletion is not immediate. No password confirmation is requested in this flow. Your account is deactivated and you are signed out as soon as the request is registered. You may sign in again to reactivate it and cancel the request before permanent deletion is completed.

1. Sign in to your Shelvly account.
2. Open Settings.
3. Go to the Account section.
4. Under Danger zone, select Deactivate and request deletion.
5. Review the information and confirm Deactivate and request deletion.
6. If you own a shared pantry, first transfer its ownership to another member or delete that pantry.

Request deletion without access to the app

If you cannot access your account, email support@shelvly.app from the address associated with your Shelvly account. Use the subject “Shelvly account deletion request” and include the email address associated with your account. We may ask you to confirm that you control the account before processing the request.

Delete specific data without deleting your account

Shelvly users can delete certain content directly from the app without deleting their account, including pantry items, shopping-list items, tasks, recipes, uploaded images associated with deleted content, and pantries they own where deletion is permitted. To request deletion of personal data that cannot be removed directly from the app, send an email from the address associated with the Shelvly account to support@shelvly.app.

Ask the user to specify which data they want deleted. Shelvly may request verification that the sender controls the relevant account.

• Deleting individual content does not automatically delete the Shelvly account.
• Shared content may remain where it is still required by another invited household member.
• Where applicable, the deleted user’s personal association is removed or anonymised.
• Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs, or service-continuity systems until overwritten according to provider retention practices.
• Limited information may be retained when required for legal obligations, security, abuse prevention, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

Data deleted

When permanent deletion is completed, data associated exclusively with your account is removed from active product systems. This includes:

• Your Supabase authentication account and credentials.
• Your profile and saved account preferences.
• Your personal pantry memberships and invitations.
• Your personal notifications and other account-linked records.
• Content and uploaded images associated exclusively with your account or with content deleted as part of the request.

Shared pantry data

Account deletion is blocked while you own a pantry that has other members. Transfer ownership to another member or delete the shared pantry first. Content in a pantry owned or actively used by another member may remain because it is shared with them. Where applicable, your identity or personal association is removed, detached, or anonymised. Pantries that only you own do not block the request and are assessed during permanent deletion.

Temporary retention

Deleted data is removed from active product systems. Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs, or service-continuity systems until overwritten according to our service providers’ retention practices. This information is not available through ordinary product access. Limited information may be retained where required for:

• Legal obligations.
• Security.
• Fraud or abuse prevention.
• Dispute resolution.
